THIS TOWN

Straight from high school to the factories

Just like my old man before me

I never thought about it,

no chance to even doubt it

That’s just what you did in this town

Well I worked midnights on a drill press

I was putting holes in things I detest

Too tired to do much else, my dreams were put on the shelf

Why is that always the way it goes in this town?

That’s all we do in this town

don’t let it get you down

on weekends we could all just hang around

yeah, on weekends we could all just hang around

The nights were long, yeah the work was hard

I got a wife, a dog, and a great big yard

Turned twenty years by forty

Don’t you boys throw me any parties

Why is that all you ever wanna do in this town?

That’s all we do in this town

don’t let it get you down

on weekends we could all just hang around

yeah, on weekends we could all just hang around

Now my kids all work in the factories

and their kids wanna grow up and be just like me

I tell ‘em have no fear, the world is great big

and there ain’t nothing here

Promise me you'll get out of this town,

oh promise me that you'll get outta here

That’s all we do in this town

don’t let it get you down

on weekends we could all just hang around

on weekends we could all just hang around

yeah that’s all we do in this town

hang around
