Moving Pictures: Bill Viola

A copy of this video installation is a part of the Fort Worth Modern Art Museum collection. When they first acquired the image, I found it absolutely mesmerizing, and frankly I still do. The projection is life-size on the wall and the actually image has a much longer running time. It is not only beautiful to watch but is also physically challenging - at first wanting to keep moving at the pace of looking at art, then determining to sit and watch, then relaxing and devouring the moving image on the wall. They have had the piece for several years now, and it still stops me.

Another project by Bill Viola here.
