West received an M.F.A in Photography from Texas Woman’s University, Denton, Texas. She is an Assistant Professor of Photography at Amarillo College. Her photographs have appeared in over 50 exhibitions in museums and galleries, including numerous solo and two-person shows, throughout the United States and Europe. She curates photography exhibitions in the Southern Light Gallery at Amarillo College, and serves on the Photography Society for the Amarillo Museum of Art. In 2013, West received a Faculty Excellence Award for Community and Workforce Innovation. Projects cited for the award include the Camera Clubhouse an in-service learning project teaching children about photography; acting as liaison for the Joel Meyerowitz exhibition, Aftermath: Images from Ground Zero; coordinating an annual workshop for Worldwide Pinhole Day; and her service on the regional "Days of Dust" committee.
